Whether you’re building a new custom website from the ground up, or redesigning an existing website, having a well-built website is one of the easiest ways to attract new visitors and convert them into buyers, leads, or even subscribers. In this post, we’re going to share a few helpful web design tips to help convert web visitors into actual buyers.

Plan.

Designing a website that engages people takes time and planning. Hire an experienced web designer who’s skilled in web development. Better yet, hire a design team that not only offers web design and development, but is also skilled in SEO. Once your website’s built, you will need to hire someone to optimize the site. You’re better off hiring a company that offers both services.

Research at least 3 to 4 web design companies before making a final decision on who to hire. Check their portfolio to see if they have designed any websites that are similar to the type of website you want built. In addition, it wouldn't hurt to get a couple of verifiable references. Then you can compare rates and the amount of time it will take to build your site.

Be consistent with color.

Avoid using too many colors; otherwise, it will distract your viewers. Select a color palette that’s cohesive to your brand image and your target audience.

Consider ease of use.

When people visit your website, they should not have to hunt around or do excessive scrolling to find information. Make sure to place the most important information on the top of your page (above the fold).

Get rid of clutter.

A website that appears cluttered will confuse and turn off your visitors. Avoid using too many elements. Think minimalism. Keep it simple, yet visually appealing. White space should be your best friend.

Post product videos

Another way to help convert visitors into buyers is to publish product videos to your blog. Focus on the benefits of using your product or service rather than just the features. Consider publishing a few short 1-2 min. videos about your product as well as 3-5 how-to videos that educate your viewers on how to use your product and how it can enhance their lives.

If you haven't already, open a YouTube channel to post videos (regularly) with a link back to your website. Make sure to include a catchy title with a keyword. Include the same keyword within the video description and the URL.

Install virtual chat.

Sometimes filling out a user form or making a phone call can actually be time-consuming for some people. More people are using chat because it’s a faster way to connect. Some people use speak-to-text, so they don’t have to type. Giving visitors access to chat can help increase trust, which can lead to a potential sale.
